Electronic Hip-Hop
\"Planet Rock\" is a groundbreaking 1982 electro-funk track by Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force. It fused hip-hop with electronic beats (inspired by Kraftwerk and using the Roland TR-808 drum machine) to create one of the first major electronic dance-rap hits. Its futuristic sound and chant of “party on, party people!” made it an instant breakdance anthem. The song was highly influential, credited with helping launch hip-hop and electro music worldwide. Fun fact: Kraftwerk agreed to license their melody (from \"Trans-Europe Express\") on a per-record-sold basis, making this an early example of legally sampled music.
