Mtume

Mtume is an American R&B group who created the hit Juicy Fruit (1983). The song reached #45 on Billboard Hot 100 and went gold, selling over 500,000 copies. The group used samples from Juicy Fruit by Mtume and You, Me and He by Mtume. Mtume had 3 Top 40 hits between 1983-1987, including You, Me and He and Breathless. The group became the first R&B group to perform on Soul Train in 1983. Their influence is felt in the work of The Notorious B.I.G., Puff Daddy and Mase.
