Mungo Jerry is a British folk-rock group who created the hit In the Summertime (1970). The song reached #1 on UK Singles Chart and #3 on Billboard Hot 100, becoming the groups biggest hit. The group used samples from In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry and Baby Jump by Mungo Jerry. Mungo Jerry had 3 Top 10 hits in the UK between 1970-1972, including Baby Jump and Lady Rose. The group became the first folk-rock group to perform on Top of the Pops in 1970. Their influence is felt in the work of Lindisfarne, Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention.
