Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock project by Trent Reznor who created the hit Closer (1994). The song reached #41 on Billboard Hot 100 and became an anthem of alternative rock in the 1990s. Reznor used samples from Closer by Nine Inch Nails and controversial lyrics I want to fuck you like an animal. The group has 2 Grammy Awards and sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Nine Inch Nails had 13 Top 10 albums on Billboard 200 between 1989-2020. Reznor also composed soundtracks for films The Social Network (2010) and Gone Girl (2014), receiving an Oscar for Best Original Score. Their influence is felt in the work of Marilyn Manson, Korn and Linkin Park.
