Patrice Rushen is an American R&B pianist and singer who created the hit Forget Me Nots (1982). The song reached #23 on Billboard Hot 100 and #4 on R&B chart, becoming the biggest hit of her career. Rushen had a jazz background and graduated from University of Southern California with a music degree. Her Forget Me Nots bass line was sampled in over 50 hip-hop tracks, including Will Smith Men in Black. Patrice has 4 Grammy nominations and worked as arranger for Janet Jackson and Sheena Easton. She became the first female musician to be musical director for Emmy Awards in 1991. Her influence is felt in the work of Alicia Keys, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.
