Patsy Cline

Patsy Cline is an American country singer Virginia Patterson Hensley who created the hit Crazy (1961). The song was written by Willie Nelson and reached #2 on Country chart and #9 on Billboard Hot 100. Cline had a distinctive contralto voice and crossover appeal between country and pop audiences. She recorded only 102 songs during her short career between 1955-1963. Patsy died in a plane crash in 1963 at age 30 along with Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas. She became the first female country artist to be inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973. Her influence is felt in the work of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and k.d. lang.
