The track was recorded at Mountain Studios in Switzerland and featured distinctive bass line by John Deacon. Under Pressure was covered in 1990 by Vanilla Ice as Ice Ice Baby without permission, leading to lawsuit. Freddie Mercury and Bowie recorded vocals separately and never met during recording session. The song became an anthem for AIDS awareness in the 1980s. Their influence is felt in the work of The Killers, Muse and Coldplay.
