Ricky Nelson is an American rock n roll singer Eric Hilliard Nelson who created the hit Travelin Man (1961). The song reached #1 on Billboard Hot 100 and became their biggest success. Nelson started his career as child actor on TV show The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet from 1949 to 1966. He had distinctive voice and teen idol image, earning him the nickname Teenage Idol. Ricky recorded over 50 Top 100 hits between 1957-1973, including Poor Little Fool and Hello Mary Lou. He died in a plane crash in 1985 along with 5 band members. Nelson was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. His influence is felt in the work of Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and The Everly Brothers.
