“Blueberry Hill” is most associated with Fats Domino’s 1956 recording. A romantic ballad originally from 1940, Domino gave it a mellow rock ’n’ roll shuffle, and his version hit #2 pop and #1 R&B. Fats’s smooth vocal and rolling piano made it a rock era classic (Rolling Stone later ranked it among the 500 greatest songs:). The song’s popularity endured: Chuck Berry named a St. Louis club “Blueberry Hill” after it.
