Jerry Lee Lewis’s “Breathless” (1958) was one of his biggest hits after “Whole Lotta Shakin’.” Written by Otis Blackwell, it peaked at #7 pop:. The mid-tempo shuffle features Lewis’s vigorous piano and breathy vocals. The song’s title later inspired the title of the 1983 Richard Gere film *Breathless*, which fittingly also featured Lewis’s “High School Confidential” on its soundtrack.
