Teenager in Love

Rock Doo-Wop
“Teenager in Love” (1959) was a #5 hit for Dion & The Belmonts. Written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, it captures the angst of young romance (“How can somebody so young / Feel so old inside?”). Dion’s plaintive lead vocal over the Belmonts’ harmonies made it a doo-wop classic. Fun fact: Pomus said he wrote it about a real heartbreak from his youth, lending authenticity to its teenage drama.
