“Goin’ Out of My Head” (1964) was a lush doo-wop ballad for Little Anthony & The Imperials. Written by Teddy Randazzo (a friend of the group), it shot to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Its yearning melody was perfect for Anthony Gourdine’s impassioned lead vocals. The Zombies also recorded it in 1967, and Dionne Warwick later covered it – each confirming its status as a pop-soul classic.
