Happy Together

Rock Pop
'Happy Together' (1967) by The Turtles was their first and only US #1 hit, and quickly became a classic of the 1960s. Written by songwriters Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon, its sunny melody ('imagine me and you, I do') and jaunty organ licks captured the hopeful spirit of the era. Paul McCartney reportedly said he wished he'd written that irresistible chorus. The song has stayed popular over the years, turning up in movies and TV – notably playing over the closing credits of Seinfeld's series finale – which attests to its catchy, upbeat charm.
