Not to be confused with Led Zeppelin’s song, Neil Sedaka’s “Stairway to Heaven” was a 1960 pop hit. Co-written with Howard Greenfield, it climbed to #9 in the US and #8 in the UK. Sedaka later quipped that Zeppelin could use the title too (“you can’t copyright a title”). The song features Sedaka’s catchy “Climb up, way up high” hook and helped cement his early-60s pop success.
