“Blue Moon” (1954) is a Rodgers & Hart show tune that Elvis Presley covered in his early rock style. Elvis recorded it at Sun Studio (it later appeared on his debut LP). Though his version only reached #55 pop, it has had a long afterlife – for example, it plays memorably in Jim Jarmusch’s film *Mystery Train*. The song is more famous as a vocal hit (The Marcels took it to #1 in 1961 with a doo-wop arrangement).
