Dion’s “Runaround Sue” (1961) was co-written by Dion DiMucci and Ernie Maresca and became a #1 pop hit. The doo-wop-infused rocker tells of a girl named Sue who leads the singer on and then moves on. It was a signature teen anthem. Interestingly, its flip side was “The Wanderer,” which also became a Top 10 hit for Dion.
